U.S. Department of Education Convenes First Session for the Reimagining and Improving Student Education (RISE) Rulemaking Committee

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) convened the first of two sessions for the Reimagining and Improving Student Education (RISE) negotiated rulemaking committee. This begins the work of implementing major student loan changes enacted under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OB3). Taking place September 29 through October 3, the session was held amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.

As a reminder, Lori Hartung, COHEAO’s Immediate Past President, serves as a negotiator for the Department of Education’s RISE Committee!

Lori’s appointment ensures COHEAO has a direct voice at the negotiation table, providing the opportunity to share our perspective as new regulations and rulemaking are developed.
